AFT contribution toward your cutoff

Enter your points above to see the smallest published AFT score band that could close your cutoff gap.

Use the target planner in the Army AFT calculator to compare the next measurable performance steps. Your unit confirms eligibility, profile credit, category limits, and the applicable monthly cutoff.

AFT score to promotion points, then your cutoff

AR 600-8-19 Table 3-4 applies the same AFT conversion to SGT and SSG: a maximum 500-point AFT earns 120 promotion points. The lowest passing general score band, 300–304, earns 1 point. A failed record test does not earn the AFT points.

Other promotion categories must be entered as officially earned points. Army cutoff scores change monthly by MOS and are not auto-fetched or assumed here, so enter the current cutoff for your MOS yourself. Start with your score in the Army AFT calculator and consult the AFT combat MOS standards when assessing whether that record test passed.

Questions about this tool

Is the AFT promotion conversion a simple percentage?

No. This worksheet looks up a whole-number AFT score in AR 600-8-19 Table 3-4. The published bands are not replaced by a percentage formula. Both the entered passing status and raw AFT total matter; eligibility, profile treatment, and personnel-record updates remain the responsibility of the authorized promotion process.

Where does the monthly cutoff value come from?

You enter the applicable cutoff manually. The worksheet does not retrieve live HRC lists or establish that a cutoff applies to your MOS and grade. Use the official list for the correct month, component, MOS, and promotion grade, then compare that value with your properly awarded point categories.

Can AFT improvements alone close my promotion gap?

The worksheet compares your other awarded points with the target cutoff and finds the smallest published AFT band that could provide the remaining contribution. If the required contribution exceeds 120, AFT improvements alone cannot close the entered gap. Use the event optimizer to explore measurable improvements within your actual performance profile.

Should I enter estimated education and award points?

Enter points already awarded or independently confirmed under the applicable promotion rules. This page adds category values rather than re-evaluating every course, qualification, badge, or award. A planning subtotal does not create promotion eligibility. Review the underlying records with your personnel office before relying on the result for an official action.
